Hyderabad, May 23 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana conducted a series of successful operations on Friday, catching four government officials red-handed in three separate bribery cases across the state, the ACB said in a statement on Saturday.

In the first case, the ACB officials caught B Vittal Rao, Assistant City Planner at the Zonal Office, Secunderabad Zone, GHMC, for demanding a bribe of Rs 8 lakhs from a complainant in exchange

for processing two occupancy certificate applications for apartment buildings.

The accused had already accepted Rs 4 lakhs earlier and was caught while seeking the remaining Rs 4 lakhs.

He was booked for performing his public duty dishonestly and was being produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, Hyderabad.

In another case, Vittal Reddy, Mandal Panchayat Officer in charge as MPDO of Shankarampet(A) Mandal, Medak District, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.

The bribe was demanded to facilitate the issuance of a cheque worth Rs 1,95,747 for the construction of a CC drain under the 15th Finance Grant. The tainted currency was recovered from his possession, and he was being presented before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally.

The amount was later negotiated down to Rs 10,000, which was collected through the constable. The tainted money was recovered from the constable’s possession, and both officials were being produced before the II Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally.
