Telangana: ACB catches Tahsildar, Surveyor for accepting Rs 20 lakhs bribe

Hyderabad, Oct 13 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught the Mandal Surveyor and Tahsildar of Abdullapurmet mandal in Ranga Reddy district in a bribery case involving Rs 20 lakhs.
According to the ACB statement issued on Monday night, Mandal Surveyor Batuka Srinivasulu was caught near Abdullapurmet while allegedly accepting Rs 20 lakhs from a complainant, on instructions from Tahsildar B Sudarshan Reddy. The amount was allegedly demanded in exchange for conducting a survey and issuing a Joint Inspection Survey Report for a layout under HMDA guidelines.
The ACB said the accused officials had initially demanded Rs 30 lakhs, which was subsequently reduced to Rs 20 lakhs. The ACB recovered the bribe amount from the surveyor, and a chemical test on both his fingers yielded positive results.
The ACB said the two officials had allegedly abused their official positions and performed their duties dishonestly. They were being arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally, Hyderabad.
The complainant's identity has been withheld for security reasons.
