South Central Railway observes Vigilance Awareness Week

Hyderabad, Oct 26 (UNI) South Central Railway (SCR) on Monday launched Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, with a call to uphold integrity, transparency and accountability in public service.
The week-long observance, from October 26 to November 1, is being held under the theme “Probity for Prosperity”.
Ravi Gupta, Executive Vice-Chairman and Director General of the Centre for Good Governance, Telangana, and former Director General of Police, Telangana, attended the inaugural function as the chief guest.
SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and Additional General Manager Satya Prakash were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said probity went beyond avoiding financial corruption and required ethical conduct and commitment to giving one's best.
Integrity was essential for building trust and promoting the growth of the nation, he added.
Srivastava stressed the importance of preventive vigilance, saying its objective was not merely to detect wrongdoing but also to prevent irregularities, strengthen systems and ensure accountability.
Given the Railways' responsibility for millions of passengers and large volumes of freight traffic, transparency was vital to maintaining public trust, he said.
The General Manager administered the integrity pledge to officers and staff at the inaugural function.
The 59th edition of the SCR vigilance bulletin, Animisha, was also released on the occasion.
As part of the programme, railway staff staged a skit titled “Theesri Aankh” highlighting the ill effects of corruption. Students from railway schools and colleges, along with railway staff, participated in essay-writing and poster-painting competitions on themes prescribed by the Central Vigilance Commission.
Prizes were distributed to the winners.
SCR senior officials, divisional railway managers and heads of departments attended the programme.
