Telangana: Seethakka directs officials to ensure grand, safe Bathukamma celebrations

Hyderabad, Oct 8 (UNI) Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) Thursday directed officials to make advance arrangements for the grand and safe celebration of Bathukamma across the State.
The Minister asked Collectors, District Panchayat Officers, Panchayat Secretaries and Sarpanches to coordinate and ensure sanitation, electricity, drinking water, roads and security at Bathukamma venues.
She ordered special sanitation drives around villages, tanks, ponds and ghats, besides repairing potholes, clearing vegetation and debris, installing lighting and improving access roads. She also directed officials to identify crowded areas, install barricades and provide steps and ramps wherever necessary to ensure the safety of women, children and the elderly.
Seethakka said Bathukamma was a symbol of Telangana’s culture, traditions and the self-respect of women. She expressed happiness that Telangana people were celebrating the floral festival in countries across the world and urged women and families in the State to celebrate it with joy and unity.
She issued the directions while participating in Bathukamma celebrations organised by the South Africa Telangana Association and extended advance greetings to women across Telangana, according to an official statement.
