AP Governor Abdul Nazeer launches TB Seal sale campaign

Vijayawada, Oct 7 (UNI) Governor of Andhra Pradesh and President of TB Association of Andhra Pradesh S Abdul Nazeer launched the 77th TB Seal sale campaign at a programme held in Durbar Hall at Lok Bhavan here on Wednesday.


Speaking on the occasion, Governor Abdul Nazeer said that 144 years ago the causative organism of Tuberculosis was discovered by Sir Robert Koch and in spite of significant advancements made for its control, it continues to be a killer disease.

He said that Tuberculosis is not merely a medical challenge, but a social and economic challenge that affects individuals, families and communities and our response to TB must go beyond treatment, including creating awareness, early diagnosis, prevention, nutrition, social support and community participation.

The Governor further said that the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, an initiative of the Central government emphasizes a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to eradicate TB from India ahead of the Global SDG goal of 2030 adopted by the United Nations.

He said that the TB Seal sale campaign has a special significance as it brings together public awareness and public participation and appealed to the citizens, educational institutions, industries, corporate houses, voluntary organisations and philanthropists to support the noble campaign by contributing generously to the TB Seal Sale Campaign.

Dr. Arun Kumar Kanti Mohanty, Dr. P.S. Sarma, Patrons, Dr. Kodali Ramakrishna, Dr. B Masilamani, Vice Chairmen, Dr. P. Jayakar Babu, General Secretary, Dr. T. Ramesh, Joint Director & Secretary of TB Association of Andhra Pradesh, P.S. Surya Prakash, Joint Secretary to Governor, and other dignitaries have attended the programme.
