RISE Health Innovation Summit 2026: AI set to transform healthcare, says Dr G V Rao

Hyderabad, Sep 24 (UNI) Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to fundamentally transform the way healthcare is delivered, from diagnosis and treatment to hospital management and surgical procedures, said AIG Hospitals Chief of Surgical Gastroenterology and Padma Shri awardee Dr G V Rao.
Speaking at the third edition of the RISE Health Innovation Summit 2026, organised by Healthark, a Healthcare and Life Sciences Consulting Services at a private hotel in Hitec City on Thursday, Dr Rao said the vast amount of data generated through laboratory tests, radiology, endoscopy, surgery and hospital information systems could be effectively analysed using AI to improve clinical outcomes.
Giving examples from AIG Hospitals, he said AI could identify patterns in ECG data that may help predict chronic liver disease and could also use basic biochemical parameters to predict fatty liver disease, potentially reducing dependence on expensive diagnostic procedures. He said AI-based systems were also being used to predict surgical complications and assist doctors in planning treatment.
