Karnataka CM, DyCM must resign to stem the mounting corruption: BJP

Bengaluru, June 23 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led state government, claiming that the only way to arrest the deepening corruption crisis is for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to resign immediately.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP’s Jagannath Bhavan office, Narayanaswamy alleged that the Congress government had turned governance into a "marketplace of corruption". He said, "This is not a Congress that came to serve the people—it is one that has come to trade in power. They labelled Basavaraj Bommai as ‘Pay CM’ and accused us of being a 40 percent commission government. But today, public disgust is directed at them."
Narayanaswamy stated that only a complete leadership overhaul could restore even a minimal level of public trust. “If the CM and DCM step down, maybe some positive change can begin. But as things stand, this government is suffocating under the weight of its own corruption. The Bihar elections are nearing, and here in Karnataka, the Congress government is busy looting,” he charged.
Citing voices from within the Congress itself, he said ministers and MLAs have started speaking out. “Belur Gopalakrishna has demanded Minister Zameer Ahmad’s resignation. R.V. Deshpande has said the guarantee schemes are financially devastating. Even their own economic advisor, MLA Rayareddy, admitted that Karnataka has become number one in corruption,” he noted.
He further pointed out Congress MLA Raju Kage’s recent statement that corruption had driven some to a state of despair and even thoughts of suicide, due to non-release of sanctioned grants.
Referring to Congress senior MLA B.R. Patil’s shocking revelation, Narayanaswamy said, “B.R. Patil stated that he requested 2,000 houses, of which 950 were sanctioned, but not a single one was allotted to his recommended beneficiaries. He says the houses went to those who paid bribes. This reflects the systemic decay.”
The BJP leader alleged that the CM and DCM were trying to silence dissenters. “They’re not addressing the concerns—they’re suppressing them. Anyone who opens their mouth is being threatened or ignored,” he said.
Describing the administration as “a scam-producing machine,” Narayanaswamy claimed, “This government isn’t embroiled in just one scandal—they create two or three every single day. Even Congress leaders now acknowledge the rot. The government’s time is running out.”
He concluded with a warning: “People are beginning to understand the extent of these scams. Public anger is rising. A tipping point is near, and the Congress government will have to face the consequences.”
