Central teams on ground as Karnataka puts Rs 46,000-cr drought bill before Centre

Bengaluru, Oct 5 (UNI) Karnataka's drought relief demand has now moved into a crucial verification stage, with three central teams touring the State's drought-hit districts and physically checking the crop damage and conditions reported by the government, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said on Monday.
The Centre's decision on financial assistance will depend substantially on the report submitted by the teams after their field assessment, he said.
"Three central teams are visiting different parts of the State. We had submitted a nearly 1,000-page report and the list of drought-affected areas. They are now going to the ground and verifying whether the conditions mentioned in our report exist in reality," Dr Parameshwara told reporters here.
