Cong mulls legal action against BJP MLC over Pak remark

Bengaluru, May 27 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar on Tuesday called for stringent legal action against BJP MLC N Ravi Kumar following his controversial remarks about Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Taranum.
Speaking to the press, Shivakumar emphasized, "There is no alternative but to initiate legal action against the BJP MLC. She (Fouzia Taranum) is an IAS officer of great integrity, and it is unacceptable for her to be spoken about in such a disrespectful manner."
The controversy erupted after Ravikumar, during a BJP protest rally in Kalaburagi on May 24, questioned Taranum’s nationality, suggesting she "may have come from Pakistan." The comment has been widely condemned as communal and derogatory. An FIR has been filed against Ravikumar under various sections, including those related to national integration and outraging religious feelings.
