Mahadevappa keeps distance from Siddaramaiah amid Cabinet berth speculation

Bengaluru, Oct 4 (UNI) The long-standing political camaraderie between former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his close associate HC Mahadevappa appears to be under strain, with the former minister increasingly keeping his distance from the veteran Congress leader.
Mahadevappa, who had stood virtually shoulder-to-shoulder with Siddaramaiah during the AHINDA movement and remained a familiar presence beside him for years, has been conspicuously absent from several recent engagements involving the former Chief Minister.
The growing distance has fuelled speculation within Congress circles that Mahadevappa is unhappy over being left out of the state Cabinet.
What makes the developments politically significant is the nature of their long association. Mahadevappa was not merely a party colleague but one of Siddaramaiah’s prominent political associates during the AHINDA mobilisation and had remained closely identified with him over the years.
His absence from a recent programme on the outskirts of Mysuru has added to the talk of differences between the two leaders.
The indications of a cooling relationship have also emerged through their recent public positions, with the two leaders increasingly seen making separate statements rather than appearing together as they traditionally did.
Congress circles, however, have not publicly acknowledged any serious rift between them.
For now, Mahadevappa’s continued distance from Siddaramaiah is being closely watched, particularly against the backdrop of Cabinet expansion and the competing political equations within the ruling party.
