Raju Kage to meet Surjewala over fund delay row

Belagavi, June 30 (UNI) Congress MLA Raju Kage today denied making any statements against the party leadership and clarified that he would be meeting AICC General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala in Bengaluru on Tuesday to explain his position.
Kage’s statement comes amid his recent allegation that development funds have not been released for his constituency, fuelling speculation of internal discontent within the Congress in Karnataka.
“I have not spoken against anyone — not about the Chief Minister, our party, or the ministers,” Kage said. “I will explain everything — what happened in the system, what is happening now, and what might happen in the future.”
Explaining why he missed an earlier meeting, Kage said, “I couldn't go because I had this meeting. I told them I would come tomorrow and asked for time. They gave me a slot at 11 AM. I have informed them and will meet Mr. Surjewala as scheduled.”
He further added, “Everyone faces trouble. If I’m in trouble, it doesn’t mean the other 250 assembly members are trouble-free — absolutely not.”
The Congress legislator maintained that his concerns were raised only in the interest of his constituency’s development and should not be seen as rebellion. “There are 136 MLAs, and only 42 are involved in this context. I don’t know about the rest. I am just one person. I will go and explain everything.”
Surjewala, who is currently in Bengaluru to assess the party’s internal matters, is expected to hold one-on-one meetings with several MLAs over the coming days. Kage’s meeting is expected to focus on fund disbursal issues and constituency-level development delays.
