BRS hits out at Telangana Police over viral video of woman being dragged

Hyderabad, Sep 19 (UNI) BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Saturday criticised the Telangana Police over a viral video purportedly showing a woman being dragged by police personnel, alleging that the force had lost public confidence and accusing it of "impunity and arrogance."
Reacting to the video in a social media post, KTR alleged that the police were selective in their response to cases involving political leaders and their relatives while taking an aggressive approach towards members of the public and political opponents.
He cited several incidents involving allegations against the relatives of political leaders and alleged police inaction in those cases, while also accusing the force of using excessive force against political leaders and protesters.
"Impunity and arrogance is now their trademark," he said, alleging that the police had failed to act adequately in certain cases while being aggressive towards political opponents.
He also referred to alleged recent incidents involving female MLAs, a former Chief Minister and a minor girl, and questioned the conduct of the police in handling such cases.
KTR further alleged that law and order had deteriorated in the state, with incidents of murder taking place while the police were allegedly engaged in "political games."
Addressing police personnel, KTR said, "Dear honest brothers and sisters of Telangana Police, is this what you signed up for?"
The allegations came in response to the viral video, the circumstances and identities of those involved which were not independently established in the statement.
