Telangana BJP chief accuses Congress of maligning constitutional institutions

Hyderabad, Oct 4 (UNI) BJP Telangana State President N Ramchander Rao on Sunday accused the Congress of spreading what he termed malicious propaganda against constitutional institutions out of fear of electoral defeat.
Addressing a press conference at the party's state office, Rao criticised Congress leaders over their remarks on the Election Commission and other constitutional institutions. He alleged that the party was attempting to undermine public confidence in institutions such as the Supreme Court, the President's office and the Election Commission of India.
On the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Hyderabad, Rao said the process was being carried out by the state government machinery under the supervision of the Election Commission. He said votes would not be deleted merely on the submission of Form-7 and that objections would be verified through field-level inquiry before any decision.
Rao also rejected allegations that BJP booth-level agents had submitted applications for deletion of votes and criticised the Congress for questioning the electoral process when it faced defeat. He said the BJP would continue its efforts to protect democratic institutions and alleged that people would reject the Congress in the remaining states where elections are due.
