Telangana CM Revanth Recalls Political Journey, Says Rahul Gandhi Influenced His Entry into Congress

New Delhi/ Hyderabad, Sept 28 (UNI): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, recounting his political journey at the 'India's Next Chapter' session at the Pratidin Conclave in New Delhi on Monday, said his meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi influenced his decision to join the party.
Reddy began his political career as a Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member in 2006 and was elected an MLC in 2007 as an independent candidate.
He later joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and was elected to the Telangana Assembly in 2009 and 2014.
He joined the Congress in 2017 and won the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
Recalling his meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Reddy said he decided to join the Congress after being impressed by Gandhi's commitment to the country, which he described as his foremost priority.
The Chief Minister also spoke about differences between student politics and political systems in northern and southern India, besides sharing his views on regional identity and political representation.
