Major Ports Adjudicatory Board launches digital platform for online case filing and management

Kochi, Oct 29 (UNI) The Adjudicatory Board for Major Ports (ABMP) on Thursday launched an e-filing portal and released a user manual to facilitate online case filing, digitise case management and improve the accessibility and efficiency of adjudicatory proceedings in the major ports sector.
The portal was launched at the Cochin Port Authority in the presence of Justice Ashish J. Desai, Presiding Officer of the ABMP and former Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
The initiative is expected to simplify procedures for litigants, legal professionals and other stakeholders while promoting transparency and efficiency in the Board's functioning.
The portal facilitates online submission of cases and digital processing of case-related activities. Its integration with e-Court facilities is intended to support hybrid hearings, making proceedings more accessible and improving procedural efficiency.
Chirravuri Viswanath, former Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, and Dr Sanjeev Ranjan, former Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, who are members of the Board, attended the programme. Satish Honnakkatte, Deputy Chairperson of the Cochin Port Authority, was also present.
Praveen P. Nair, Joint Secretary (Ports and PPP) in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Dr M. Angamuthu, Chairperson of the Cochin Port Authority, and representatives of other major port authorities, public-private partnership concessionaires, port users and user associations joined the programme through video conferencing.
A user manual explaining the portal's functions and providing step-by-step guidance for its use was released as part of the launch. A presentation and live demonstration of the e-filing portal and the Digital Case Management System were also conducted to familiarise stakeholders with the digital facilities.
Participants shared suggestions and feedback on the platform, with the interaction aimed at supporting its effective implementation and wider adoption among stakeholders.
The ABMP was constituted by the Central Government on August 13, 2025, under the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021, to discharge the adjudicatory and other responsibilities assigned to it under the Act.
The launch represents a step towards strengthening digital governance in the major ports sector, with an emphasis on streamlined institutional processes, ease of doing business and more efficient dispute resolution.
