PMI SAC 2026: Adaptive teamwork helped NISAR overcome setbacks, says ISRO project director

Bengaluru, Oct 3 (UNI) The NASA-ISRO NISAR mission overcame complex technical challenges, integration hurdles and nearly two years of disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic through adaptive planning, proactive teamwork and close coordination between teams in India and the US, its project director Dr Chaitra Rao said here on Saturday.
Addressing the PMI South Asia Conference 2026 (PMSAC26), Dr Rao, project director of NISAR at the UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), said the mission demonstrated that successful execution of a complex space project depended as much on the ability of teams to adapt as on technological expertise.
“Proactive teamwork and adaptive engineering methods were the key to overcome the setbacks,” she said, explaining how the teams kept the mission on track despite repeated challenges.
