Kerala Police to form college protection committees to curb drug abuse, violence, cyber threats

Thiruvananthapuram, June 25 (UNI) The Kerala Police Chief has issued a circular for the formation of College Protection Committees in all higher education institutions across Kerala, aiming to curb the rising Ecosystem of rising issues of drug abuse, violence, cyber threats, and anti-social activities among youths.
The committees will also focus on empowering students and staff and organising road safety education, disaster management training, and self-defence training, especially for women.
The initiative will provide a platform for students to report complaints without fear and ensure timely resolution. By collaborating with other departments and agencies, the committees will ensure campus safety and the overall welfare of students.
Aiming to prevent substance abuse, address safety concerns, and conduct awareness campaigns on issues like cyber safety and mental health, the committees will provide immediate assistance during emergencies and ensure healthy cooperation between college authorities, students, and the police.
The responsibility for coordinating, managing, and supervising the functioning of college protection committees statewide will rest with the Social Policing Directorate.
To ensure streamlined operations, effectiveness, and accountability, a state-level committee comprising the state police chief, the excise commissioner, and the directors of higher education, technical education, and women and child development will be formed.

Hyderabad, June 25 (UNI) The Women Safety Wing, Telangana Police, through the Bharosa Society for Protection of Women and Children, has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here today with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL) to jointly implement the initiative titled “Driving Policing Efficiency for Community Impact.”
The MoU was formally signed by Charu Sinha, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Women Safety Wing, who also serves as the Head of the Bharosa Society and Masood Hussainy, Executive Director of TATA Advanced Systems, in the presence of senior officials from Bharosa.
