T'gana CM Reddy calls for stronger inter-state police coordination to combat crime

Hyderabad, Oct 23 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday called for stronger coordination among southern States to tackle cybercrime, narcotics trafficking, organised crime and other emerging security challenges.
Inaugurating the Southern Regional Police Coordination Committee (SRPCC) meeting at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Banjara Hills, he stressed that public safety must remain the foremost priority of the police.
The Chief Minister said policing must continuously evolve to address changing patterns of crime and highlighted Telangana's specialised agencies, including HYDRAA, EAGLE and the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, for their work in their respective areas. He emphasised the importance of technology-driven policing and said investment in police resources was an investment in public safety.
Revanth Reddy also highlighted the government's commitment to police welfare, stating that the future of police personnel's families was a priority. Initiatives included the Young India Police School to provide quality education to police personnel's children, housing support for families of personnel who die in the line of duty, and compassionate employment for eligible family members.
Calling for a united approach to crime prevention, he urged police departments to strengthen cross-border coordination, intelligence sharing and technology partnerships. He said Telangana was ready to share its technological infrastructure and the ICCC framework with neighbouring States to help make South India safer.
Earlier, DGP C V Anand said criminal syndicates, cyber fraudsters and drug networks operated across State boundaries, making real-time intelligence sharing and coordinated enforcement essential. He outlined the meeting's agenda, which included narcotics trafficking, terrorism, cybercrime, organised crime, economic offences, human trafficking, implementation of new criminal laws, and the use of artificial intelligence in policing.
The meeting brought together senior police officials from southern States and representatives of Central agencies to exchange best practices and develop stronger institutional mechanisms for cooperation. Anand expressed hope that the deliberations would lead to a structured framework for intelligence sharing, technology collaboration and crime prevention.
