Deepika slam eight goals as Indian Women begin Asian Games medal quest with 19-0 rout of Uzbekistan

Kakamigahara (Japan), Sep 20 (UNI) It rained goals at the hockey arena with Deepika leading from the front pumping in eight goals, as Indian women made a thunderous start to their Asian Games campaign, routing Uzbekistan 19-0 in their opening Pool B encounter here on Saturday night.
The victory was headlined by a remarkable eight-goal outing from penalty-corner specialist Deepika, while Ishika completed a hat-trick as India pummelled their rivals leading from start to finish in what turned outto be an one horse rce.
Eight different Indian players found the net in a dominant display, as the match also saw veteran goalkeeper Savita reach a significant personal milestone.
