Top-performing display: Kabaddi, Sakshi lead India’s Day 3 charge

Aichi-Nagoya, Sep 22 (UNI) India’s defending champions produced another dominant display in men’s kabaddi, while Sakshi Chaudhary made a statement on her Asian Games return by defeating an Olympic bronze medallist as the country enjoyed a mixed but eventful third day at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games here on Tuesday.
The Indian kabaddi team registered its second straight victory, crushing South Korea 63-31 to consolidate its position at the top of Group A. India led 34-14 at half-time and inflicted three all-outs in another commanding performance.
Sakshi provided one of the day’s standout individual performances, defeating Philippines’ Olympic bronze medallist Aira Villegas 5-0 in the women’s 51kg opening bout. The Commonwealth Games medallist will next face world champion Alua Balkibekova of Kazakhstan on Thursday.
