Aishwary-Niraj-Rudrankksh Fire India to Silver in 50m Rifle 3 Positions

Aichi-Nagoya, Sept 25 (UNI) India added another shooting medal to its Asian Games haul as Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar and Rudrankksh Patil combined to win silver in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event here on Friday.
The Indian trio aggregated 1762-94x to finish behind China, which claimed gold with 1766-95x. South Korea took the bronze with 1751-87x.
Aishwary led India’s challenge in the individual qualification, shooting 589-34x to finish third, while Niraj was fourth with 588-34x. Both secured places in the individual final, giving India another opportunity to add to its medal tally in the event.
Rudrankksh finished ninth with 585-26x and missed the individual final, but added another medal to his collection at Aichi-Nagoya. He had earlier won bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event and silver in the team competition.
The team silver also marked a podium finish for India in an event in which it had won gold at the previous Asian Games.
With Aishwary and Niraj advancing to the individual final, India’s challenge in the 50m rifle 3 positions continues, with the duo set to compete for another medal.
The event demands precision and consistency across the kneeling, prone and standing positions, making the Indian team’s silver finish a significant contribution to the country’s shooting campaign at the Games.
