IAF begins operational phase of Tarang Shakti 2026 at Jodhpur

New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday commenced the operational phase of multilateral air exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Jodhpur, bringing together air forces from eight countries for advanced joint training and enhancing interoperability.
The exercise, themed “Power in Partnership”, is being conducted from September 26 to October 12, with seven Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs), Australia, the United States, the UAE, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, participating alongside the IAF.
The participating foreign aircraft include the F-35 Lightning II, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A, representing a mix of combat, transport and air-to-air refuelling capabilities.
Several other foreign countries are also participating as observers. Building on the inaugural edition held in 2024, the exercise will provide an opportunity for participating air forces to undertake advanced joint training, exchange operational expertise and strengthen professional ties.
The participating contingents will operate alongside the IAF, employing frontline combat aircraft and support elements across a range of missions. The exercise will focus on interoperability, aerospace safety, mutual learning and a better understanding of operational procedures and capabilities.
According to the Defence Ministry, the exercise will facilitate professional interaction among aircrew, mission planners and operational support personnel, enabling them to share experiences
and understand each other's operational philosophies.
Beyond flying operations, the exercise will feature a series of professional, cultural and outreach activities, including a dedicated seminar, industrial tour for foreign contingents, Sekhon Marathon, heritage tours and yoga sessions.
These engagements are aimed at promoting professional exchange, showcasing India's aerospace and industrial ecosystem and fostering camaraderie among participating forces.
The exercise will also provide the IAF an opportunity to demonstrate its operational capabilities, professional standards and indigenous aerospace and defence technologies.
The ministry said Tarang Shakti 2026 underscores India's commitment to constructive defence engagement and military cooperation, while reinforcing partnerships and promoting regional
peace, security and stability through shared operational experience.
