Maha cabinet approves soft loans for sugar mills, policy evaluation cell, other key decisions

Mumbai, Sep 15 (UNI) The Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday approved a series of important decisions aimed at providing relief to sugarcane farmers and cooperative sugar mills, improving evaluation of government schemes and policies, and strengthening urban and administrative infrastructure.
One of the major decisions was to extend government support to cooperative sugar mills through soft loans to enable them to clear pending Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) dues for the 2025-26 crushing season and prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The decision, taken on the recommendation of the Cooperation and Marketing Department, is expected to provide relief to both sugarcane growers and sugar factories.

Maha: Mumbai fuel dealers warn of shut down against UPI MDR from Oct 15

Mumbai, Sep 19 (UNI) The Petrol Dealers’ Association, Mumbai, has written a letter to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) requesting a complete exemption for fuel retailers from the proposed UPI MDR charges, even as it also warned of not accepting UPI payments at fuel stations across the city from October 15, if MDR (Merchant Discount Rate) charges are imposed on UPI transactions above Rs 2,000.
