Maha: Nagpur cop caught accepting Rs 20,000 bribe, held

Nagpur, Sep 17 (UNI) A constable attached to Jaripatka Police Station was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant in Nagpur, officials said on Thursday.
According to ACB officials, two constables had allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 from the complainant in return for extending help in a non-cognisable offence registered at the police station.
Following negotiations, the accused allegedly agreed to accept Rs 20,000. The complainant subsequently approached the ACB and lodged a complaint.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap on the first floor of the police station and apprehended constable Sachin Manikrao Tayde on Wednesday night while allegedly accepting the bribe amount, officials said.
Another constable, identified as Manish Uttam Meshram, reportedly fled after sensing the trap and is currently being searched for by the agency.
Officials said Tayde's health deteriorated following the operation and he was admitted to Mayo Hospital for treatment.
