Man Booked Under Anti-Conversion Law for Alleged Sexual Exploitation, Blackmail

Nashik, Oct 5 (UNI) The Bhadrakali police have registered a case against Aman Khan under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the state’s anti-conversion law following a serious complaint by a woman alleging sexual exploitation since she was a minor, blackmail using obscene videos and pressure to convert for marriage.
According to the complaint, the victim met the accused through Instagram in 2021 while she was studying in Class 11. The accused allegedly gained her confidence by promising marriage and subsequently established a relationship with her. When the victim was 16, he allegedly sexually assaulted her at a lodge in Nashik. The complaint states that the alleged abuse continued at different locations thereafter.
After the victim became an adult, she asked the accused about marriage. However, he allegedly told her that she and her family would have to convert to Islam for the marriage. He also allegedly imposed restrictions, including asking her to wear a burqa.
The victim further alleged that the accused threatened to circulate her obscene photographs and videos on social media and demanded ₹5 lakh from her. Despite her attempts to end the relationship, he allegedly continued contacting her through phone calls, threatening her, causing mental harassment and demanding money. The alleged actions created fear among the victim and her family.
Bhadrakali police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and the anti-conversion law and have launched a search for the accused. Assistant Commissioner of Police Sandeep Mitke confirmed that this is reportedly the first case registered in Nashik city under the anti-conversion law since its enactment.
