Vikram Shinde honoured Marathi literary conference

Pune, Oct 5 (UNI) Poet Vikram Malan Appaso Shinde, Maharashtra state general secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Parishad, was felicitated for his contribution to the organisation of the Sarfojiraje II Marathi Literary Conference held in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.
The conference, organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Parishad, was the first Marathi literary conference to be held in South India in over three centuries, according to the organisers.
Shinde was honoured with a shawl and memento by Thanjavur royal family head Shrimant Chhatrapati Babajiraje Bhosale and Yuvraj Sambhajiraje Bhosale. He was recognised for his contribution to the conference's organisation, coordination, anchoring, publicity and programme planning.
Parishad national president and conference president Dr Sharad Gore, former education minister Dr Laxmanrao Dhoble, Shrimant Chhatrapati Abajiraje Bhosale and other office-bearers and literary personalities were present.
The conference was named after Sarfojiraje II, who played a significant role in promoting Marathi language and culture in Thanjavur. The event aimed to strengthen the historical cultural link between Marathi and Thanjavur and promote Marathi literary activities in South India, said Shinde. UNI SP CDS
