Mumbai/ Nashik, Nov 6 (UNI) Former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel has landed in legal trouble after being accused of providing shelter to Nida Khan, a key accused in a controversial religious conversion and sexual exploitation case.
The Nashik Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) has informed the court about the alleged involvement of Jaleel, following which a criminal case has been registered against him.
The development has triggered considerable political speculation, with the case taking a new turn following the police action.
According to police sources, the investigation into the case involving Nida Khan has brought several significant details to light.
Jaleel has been accused of providing shelter to Khan, allegedly helping her evade arrest or avoid legal proceedings. The SIT presented its submissions and relevant information before the court, outlining the allegations against the former MP.
The case was reportedly registered on suspicion that Jaleel had directly or indirectly assisted the accused in evading legal action or escaping from the authorities.
Following the submission before the court, the investigation has gained momentum, with the SIT reportedly examining the role of others who may have helped the accused. The police have indicated that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found to have assisted the accused in the case.
