Three Arrested In Mira Bhayandar For Allegedly Duping People With Fake Currency Note Promise

Mumbai, Sept 17 (UNI) Police have arrested three persons for allegedly cheating members of the public by promising to print Indian currency notes and double their money, in the Mira Bhayandar area.
According to information received by the police, the accused allegedly approached people with claims that they could produce fake currency notes resembling genuine Indian currency. They allegedly used the promise of doubling the victims’ money to gain their confidence before demanding large sums for arranging the notes.
After collecting money from the victims, the accused allegedly fled instead of delivering what had been promised. The matter came to the attention of police after a complaint was received, following which investigators planned a trap to catch the suspects.
The police operation resulted in the arrest of three accused. They are now being questioned as investigators seek to determine how the alleged operation was organised and whether the group had targeted other people.
Police are also trying to establish how many people may have been cheated by the gang.
