SIT arrests four more in MPSC drug Inspector paper leak case

Mumbai, Sep 25 (UNI) The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Drug Inspector examination paper leak has arrested four more persons, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 11, police said on Friday.
The latest arrests include two candidates who allegedly received the leaked question paper and two middlemen involved in the alleged racket.
The arrested candidates have been identified as Sajid Sande, who was picked up from Sangoli in Solapur district, and Vijay Kingar from Buldhana.
The two middlemen, Sandeep Khalate and Bhairavnath Kadam, were arrested from Navi Mumbai, officials said.
Earlier, the SIT had arrested MPSC Under Secretary Abhijit Lendwe and two Assistant Section Officers attached to the Commission's confidential cell, Vishweshwar Nakate and Gopal Marathe.
Kautilya Academy Director Pravin Patil, middlemen Amrit Patil and Lokesh alias Gaurav Patil, and candidate Rituja Patil were also arrested earlier in connection with the case.
The case relates to the MPSC examination held on March 22, 2026, for recruitment to 154 posts of Drug Inspector, Group-B, in the Food and Drug Administration cadre. The examination was conducted at six centres across Maharashtra.
According to the investigation, some MPSC officials allegedly misused their official positions and compromised the confidentiality of the examination. The question paper sets were allegedly leaked and passed to candidates through coaching academy operators and middlemen in return for money.
Investigators suspect that the middlemen acted as a link between the officials and candidates, collecting money and arranging access to the question papers before the examination.
Police are now examining the role of other candidates and coaching centres in the alleged racket.
Digital records, bank transactions and call detail records are being scrutinised to trace the flow of money and identify other persons involved in the case.
The case has been registered under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Maharashtra Competitive Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Officials said further arrests cannot be ruled out as the investigation is continuing. UNI AAA SAS
