Symbiosis, along with school children launches Beat the Plastic Pollution drive

Pune, June 6 (UNI) More than 40 participants, including researchers, students and staff of Symbiosis Centre for Waste Resource Management (SCWRM) along with school children, conducted a plastic collection drive in Lavale Village, and collected more than 45 kg of plastic.
Symbiosis Centre for Waste Resource Management (SCWRM), in collaboration with Gram Panchayat, Lavale, conducted a plastic collection drive in Lavale Village in tune with this year’s theme of ‘Beat the Plastic pollution’, spreading the message of cleanliness.
School children of the Zila Parishad School, Lavale and Gram Panchayat volunteers also participated in the collection drive, said a release today.
The event commenced with the opening remarks by the Village Development Officer, Lavale on the importance of environment conservation and the impact of plastic pollution.
During the activity, more than 45 kg of plastic was collected and handed over for proper recycling.
In this campaign, awareness regarding the plastic usage, recycling and reducing plastic waste was also done to the villagers and participating school children.
