CJP launches nationwide campaign for improvement of tribal schools

Nagpur, Sep 16 (UNI) Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke on Wednesday announced the launch of a nationwide campaign titled "Fix Tribal Schools", alleging continued neglect of tribal students and educational institutions despite eight decades of India's independence.
Addressing a press conference here, Deepke said the campaign would begin from Gadchiroli district in eastern Maharashtra on Thursday , while activist Ashutosh would simultaneously launch a similar initiative from Gujarat.
He said the campaign would focus on assessing infrastructure and facilities in schools located in tribal areas across the country and press for corrective measures by governments.
Deepke claimed that tribal students possessed the potential to excel but lacked adequate opportunities due to deficiencies in the education system.
Alleging serious shortcomings in tribal education, he claimed that 590 tribal students had died in Maharashtra and questioned whether sufficient importance was being attached to their welfare.
He also alleged that out of nearly 700 Eklavya Model Residential Schools, only about 300 functioned from permanent campuses, while the remaining institutions operated from rented premises.
He further claimed that around 28,000 posts remained vacant in the sector and that allocated funds were not being fully utilised.
Deepke expressed concern over the representation of tribal students in higher education, alleging negligible admissions in some premier institutions.
He also raised concerns over conditions in residential schools, claiming that poor food management had led to cases of food poisoning and student deaths in certain places.
While appreciating the government's efforts in curbing Naxalism, he said similar attention was required to improve educational facilities in tribal regions.
He maintained that the campaign was not aimed at targeting any individual or government and said authorities would be appreciated if tangible improvements were made.
Referring to recent developments in Ashram schools, Deepke claimed that some changes, including the provision of beds, had taken place after public campaigns and visits by activists.
However, he questioned why such measures had not been implemented earlier.
He also argued that successive governments had not paid adequate attention to primary education.
He questioned the condition of tribal education despite nearly eight decades of Independence and said the campaign would seek accountability and improvements in infrastructure and basic amenities.
“If schools are to be privatised, then what is the need for the government?” he asked, while stressing the importance of strengthening public education.
Deepke said the campaign would begin in Maharashtra and later be extended to Jharkhand.
He clarified that the initiative was not aimed at targeting anyone but at ensuring better educational facilities for tribal students.
“Our objective is to improve schools. If schools are improved, the government will earn appreciation,” he said.
Asked about the possibility of contesting elections, Deepke said the matter would be considered in the future.

Udhna–Pune Amrit Bharat Express to soon run via Nandurbar

Nandurbar, Sep 16 (UNI) The Central and Western Railway zones have approved the launch of a new Amrit Bharat Express between Udhna and Pune, which will run via Nandurbar, bringing relief to railway passengers in the region.
The train will depart from Udhna and travel through Nandurbar, Amalner, Jalgaon, Chalisgaon, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahilyanagar, Daund Chord Line and Hadapsar before reaching Pune.
Passengers had been demanding a direct train connecting Surat and Udhna with Pune via Nandurbar for a long time.
