Mumbai May 5 (UNI) A fire broke out at an expensive garment store inside a five-storey building at Pedder Road of south Mumbai early Monday, with no injury reported while clothes and other valuable items were damaged.
According to the fire bridge sources, the fire broke out at 7.40 am at a garment store Riyaz Gangji Libas boutique located at Shanti building near the Jaslok Hospital at Pedder Road’s Nana Chowk, which is located near Jaslok Hospital.
Six fire engines were engaged in dousing the fire, which was extinguished at 854am .
Firefighters rescued four men and four women from the fourth floor. Meanwhile, three dogs and two cats were also rescued from the first floor officials said.
According to officials, the blaze was limited to the store’s electric wiring, electrical fittings, and a stockpile of garments and cloth materials. Authorities are currently evaluating the extent of the damage and have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
