Sonbhadra (UP), May 5 (UNI) Three members of a family were killed after being crushed by a truck in front of their house in Pannuganj area of Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Monday.
Circle Officer (CO) Randhir Mishra said that Ishtiaq Ali (55), his daughter-in-law Afsana (30) and grandson Afsar (6), all residents of Banaura village, were sitting at the door of the house when the speeding truck coming from Naugarh Chandauli ran over them, killing all three on the spot.
"After the accident, the truck went out of control and fell into the canal on the side of the road," he said.
He said that the truck driver Rinku, a resident of Banaura, was seriously injured in the incident.
"The truck driver who sustained serious injuries has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment," he said.
Police sources said that angry villagers blocked the road by placing all three bodies on the road demanding compensation.
"The police reached the spot and cleared the blockade by convincing the people," they said.
