Maha: Rejection of Mehul Choksi's bail plea is major victory for Indian agencies

Mumbai, Apr 23 (UNI) The rejection of the bail plea by a court in Belgium of absconding diamond merchant, Mehul Choksi, is a major victory for Indian agencies seeking to get him extradited, sources in the Mumbai Enforcement Directorate (ED) said on Wednesday.
ED is investigating the Rs 13,500 crore Punjab National Bank loan fraud case along with the Central Bureau of Investigation in which Choksi is figured as prime accused. CBI has filed six economic offences against him in 2018 and 2022.
The sources also said that after a Court of Appeal in city of Antwerp rejected Choksi’s plea, the path to get him extradited to India is clear.
