Lalita Tarakh says she is being targeted by Maratha activists, plans to meet Fadnavis

Jalna, Oct 1 (UNI) Lalita Tarakh, who was actively involved in the initial stages of Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil’s agitation at Antarwali Sarati, has alleged that she is being targeted and subjected to online trolling after criticising the activist and his agitation.
Tarakh said she had approached the police over the alleged harassment but claimed that no concrete action had been taken so far. She has now announced that she will meet Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis and seek action against those allegedly responsible for targeting and trolling her.
Jarange Patil has conducted several agitations at Antarwali Sarati over the past three years as part of his campaign for Maratha reservation. Tarakh, a resident of the village, was involved in the initial phase of the agitation and participated in activities at the protest site.
However, differences have emerged between Tarakh and Jarange Patil following his decision to discontinue further agitations at Antarwali Sarati. Jarange had also instructed local Maratha activists to remove the tent and stage erected at the protest venue after he announced that he would no longer hold agitations there.
The villagers subsequently removed the tent and stage from the protest site in accordance with his directions.
Following this development, Tarakh strongly criticised Jarange Patil and questioned the outcome of the agitation. She claimed that despite the issue of the Hyderabad Gazette being taken up in connection with Maratha reservation, not a single Kunbi caste certificate had been issued in the village, according to her.
Tarakh also questioned the effectiveness of the prolonged agitation and alleged that the movement had failed to achieve the expected results. Her criticism triggered a sharp reaction among Jarange’s supporters, following which she claims to have faced trolling and harassment on social media.
Tarakh further created a stir by saying that she would reveal, at an appropriate time, details about how Jarange Patil conducted his hunger strikes at Antarwali Sarati. Her remarks have added another dimension to the ongoing differences surrounding the Maratha agitation.
The former activist has now warned Jarange supporters that she intends to pursue the matter through the authorities. She said she would personally meet Fadnavis and place before him details of the alleged trolling and harassment, while seeking appropriate action against those responsible. UNI SP AAB
