Maha: Eknath Shinde inquires after ailing Sharad Pawar at Breach Candy Hospital, discharge expected on Saturday

Mumbai, Nov 6 (UNI) In a significant gesture of political courtesy transcending party lines, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) supremo Sharad Pawar at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital to inquire about his health.
Interacting with media persons outside the medical facility, Shinde offered reassuring updates, announcing that the 83-year-old veteran leader's medical parameters are completely stable and that he is scheduled to be discharged on November 7.
The high-profile meeting took place in the presence of MP Supriya Sule, Pratibha Pawar, and the attending panel of medical specialists.
Shinde confirmed that doctors conducted comprehensive reviews of all vital health parameters and found them normal. He noted that Pawar was seated comfortably in a chair, actively conversing with visitors, and assured supporters that there is no cause for concern.
Battling a lung infection contracted during his recent tour of drought-affected districts, Pawar prioritised public interest over personal illness. He sought specific updates on the water crisis in Satara district and the Mahabaleshwar foothills, urging Shinde to direct immediate administrative relief to affected farmers.
Shinde shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke directly with Sharad Pawar over the phone, setting aside political differences to inquire after his well-being and advising him to take complete rest until full recovery.
Dismissing political speculation surrounding the hospital call, Shinde reiterated that administrative leadership and personal warmth take precedence over political rivalry, noting a long-standing personal relationship with the senior leader beyond party affiliations.
With the medical team expressing satisfaction with his recovery, the veteran leader is set to return to his home following his scheduled discharge on November 7.
