Fadnavis unlikely to return Maha Finance Minister's post to Sunetra Pawar, claims Rohit Pawar

Mumbai, Oct 17 (UNI) Sharad Pawar-led NCP MLA Rohit Pawar claimed today that Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar will never get back the Finance minister's post which was taken away from her by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
"Sunetra Pawar will never get back the post of Finance Minister. I know the BJP very well and that is why I stay far from the BJP. After Ajit Pawar's death, the BJP stole the post of Finance Minister from Sunetra Pawar," he told media persons here.
Rohit Pawar stated that the post of the Finance Minister was held by the late NCP leader Ajit Pawar and after his death CM Fadnavis kept the portfolio with him under the pretext that Suntra Pawar would find it difficult to present the state budget, since she is newly sworn-in as Deputy CM and lacked the experience which Ajit Pawar had.
Originally, Fadnavis had promised to return the state Finance ministry portfolio back to Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar, but that never happened despite umpteen requests and several pressure tactics tried by Sunetra Pawar-led NCP leader Sunil Tatkare, who raised the issue just a couple of days ago.
Notably, senior leaders of the Sunetra Pawar-led NCP, including Sunetra Pawar herself, demanded the return of the Finance ministry from the Chief Minister and BJP leaders.
"The late Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was the state's Finance Minister. He was supposed to present the state budget in the Legislative Assembly in March 2026. However, his accidental death in January 2026, created a major political crisis," Sharad Pawar-led MLA said.
"After that, his wife Sunetra Pawar took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. CM Fadnavis has kept the post of Finance Minister with himself saying that he would present the budget. Now, it has been nine months since Ajit Pawar passed away, but the post of Finance Minister has not been given to the NCP led by Sunetra Pawar," he noted.
Rohit Pawar alleged that the BJP has stolen the post of Finance Minister after Ajit Pawar's demise and added that neither the Sunetra Pawar-led NCP nor the BJP could give justice to the late Ajit Pawar.
Speaking about the drought situation in the state and the paltry assistance of Rs 5,000 offered by the Fadmnavis government, Sharad Pawar-led MLA said, "I am giving an ultimatum to the government to help the farmers adequately as soon as possible, or else we will not let you celebrate Diwali."
