Shivtirth, Nesco, high-stakes political clash mark Maha’s fiercest Dussehra showdown

Mumbai, Oct 19 (UNI) Maharashtra’s political arena has transformed into a high-voltage battleground this Dussehra, with rival factions of the Shiv Sena drawing battle lines across Mumbai in a fierce contest for political legacy and public dominance.
Despite bureaucratic hurdles and a tight grid of 24 stringent civic conditions—ranging from strict decibel caps to a ban on driving nails into the ground under threat of deposit confiscation—Uddhav Thackeray’s faction has secured the historic Shivaji Park (‘Shivtirth’). Meanwhile, the ruling camp led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has countered with a massive show of strength at Goregaon’s Nesco Center, setting the stage for a parallel power display.
In a strategic bid to dismantle the Thackeray faction's emotional rhetoric and the lingering "traitor" narrative, the Shinde camp has dedicated its Nesco mega-rally to drought-affected regions. Moving beyond conventional rhetoric, the event features the direct distribution of 25,000 bicycles and 25,000 sewing machines alongside the launch of the "Bhagwa Khandyavar, Shivsainik Bandhyavar" grassroot campaign. The ruling camp is expected to turn the tables by targeting the opposition over regional policies and historical ideological compromises.
Adding intense suspense to the Shivaji Park rally are strong political currents suggesting a possible appearance—and address—by MNS Chief Raj Thackeray. If both estranged cousins share a single platform, it could signal a major realignment of regional forces against the ruling alliance, turning the spotlight sharply back onto the opposition camp.
Mumbai Restrictions: The civic body’s strict code mandates venue possession only between 6 AM and midnight on October 20, with sound systems forced to shut down by 10 PM under direct police surveillance.
Nagpur (RSS Centenary): Marking the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Reshimbagh grounds, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will attend as chief guest alongside Israel’s Consul General Yaniv Revach, with an address by Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat.
Beed Regional Rallies: Beed district remains a major focal point with BJP leader Pankaja Munde hosting her 12th anniversary (Tapapurti) rally at Bhagwan Bhaktigad (Savargaon Ghat), running parallel to a massive gathering at Narayanagad featuring activist Manoj Jarange.
