Raut demands President’s Rule in Maharashtra, alleges ‘Jungle Raj’ over shootings and Thane murder

Mumbai, Oct 19 (UNI): Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday demanded the imposition of President’s Rule in Maharashtra, accusing the state government of failing to maintain law and order following a series of high-profile criminal incidents, including a recent shooting targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s vehicle.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Raut alleged that a “jungle raj” prevailed across major cities, including Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur.
He cited several criminal incidents, including the murder of former minister Baba Siddique, firing incidents targeting actor Salman Khan, the recent killing of local leader Pradeep Purnekar in Thane and the latest shooting incident involving Shroff’s vehicle.
Targeting Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Raut accused the state government of failing to curb organised crime and alleged that state machinery was being used to target political opponents instead of tackling criminal networks.
“Murders and daylight shootings have become regular occurrences. If actors and political figures are unsafe in the financial capital, what hope is there for the common man?” Raut said.
He further criticised Fadnavis’s handling of the Home portfolio, describing him as a failed Home Minister and asserting that President’s Rule was the only option left.
The senior opposition leader also questioned the Centre’s handling of jailed gangsters, alleging links between political patronage and organised crime syndicates.
His remarks come amid heightened political tensions over recent criminal incidents in Maharashtra. Police investigations into the cases are ongoing.UNI NEP AAB
