Army recruitment rally at taluka sports complex, Visapur, Chandrapur

Pune, Oct 5 ( UNI) As part of the Indian Army’s Agniveer recruitment drive for 2027, HQ Southern Command and the Recruitment Directorate are conducting an Army recruitment rally at the Taluka Sports Complex, Visapur, Chandrapur, from October 3 to 16, 2026.
The rally has witnessed enthusiastic participation from candidates from all eastern parts of Maharashtra. Approximately 8,500 candidates who have cleared the Online Common Entrance Examination (CEE) will participate in the rally for all Agniveer categories, including Agniveer Clerk, from all districts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa.
HQ UM&G Sub Area, under the aegis of HQ Southern Command, along with the civil administration, has made adequate arrangements at the rally venue for the smooth conduct of the recruitment process. These include facilities for medical support, drinking water, crowd control, rest areas, mobile toilets, sanitation and waste disposal, a Defence release said on Monday.
The spirited participation, with a 90 per cent turnout, reflects the patriotism, dedication and commitment of the youth of Maharashtra towards joining the Indian Army and serving the nation with pride.

Kolhapur court sentences man and his two sons to life imprisonment for murder

Kolhapur, Oct 5 (UNI) District session judge AM Patil today sentenced to life imprisonment and fine of Rs 10,000 each to a man and his two sons for the 2013 murder of a man over a minor issue in Raman-mala area of the city.
According to public prosecutor Sujata Ingale, accused Rajendra Ananda Sawant (63) and his two sons Abhijeet (32) and Dharyasheel (34), are all residents of Vichare Mala, a suburb of the city.
Accused Rajendra had a feud with Hemant Babaso Gaikwad and his brother Shashikant on a minor issue.
