Maha CM Fadnavis mourns Uttarakhand helicopter crash

Mumbai, June 15 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday expressed grief over the death of all seven people on board a helicopter, ferrying pilgrims from Kedarnath, that crashed near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand Sunday morning.

A toddler was among the deceased.

Fadnavis extended his condolences over the loss of lives, particularly the three victims from his state.

In his message on X, he wrote, "Deeply pained by the tragic accident where passengers lost their lives in a helicopter crash near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand this morning while travelling from Kedarnath to Guptkashi. Among the victims were devotees from Maharashtra as well. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. We stand in solidarity with all those affected." UNI AAA NST SSP

Concern in Kolhapur-Sangli districts over Karnataka raising water storage height at Almatti

Kolhapur, June 16 (UNI) People in Kolhapur and Sangli districts of Maharashtra, living along the banks of the Krushna, Panchaganga and Warna rivers, have expressed concern over Karnataka raising the water storage height in Almatti dam from 47 percent to 52 percent, fearing it could worsen the flood situation during the monsoon.
They said that the Central Water Commission (CWC) permitted the Karnataka government to fill 47 percent water storage in Almatti for June month. However, the Karnataka irrigation department has violated the CWC rules and raised the storage upto 52 percent this month.

Maha: 18 die, 65 injured in rain-related incidents since June 1

Mumbai, June 16 (UNI) At least 18 people have died and 65 suffered injuries due to rain-related incidents in Maharashtra since June one, according to a report issued by the State Disaster Management Authority here on Monday.
