Infantry school MHOW celebrates Yoga Day

Pune, June 21 (UNI) The Infantry School at Mhow marked the 11th International Yoga Day on Saturday with great fervour. A dedicated session of asanas (yogic postures) and pranayama (breath control techniques) was organized for all ranks and their families, highlighting the integral role of yoga in maintaining a balanced mind and a healthy body.
This year’s celebration emphasized the theme of 'Harmony and Peace through Yoga', aiming to spread awareness about the importance of holistic well-being among armed forces personnel and their dependents.
Over 1,200 personnel and their families enthusiastically took part in the session. The event served as a reminder that a soldier must remain physically resilient and mentally composed, and yoga acts as a vital tool in achieving both, said defence release.
The session was conducted by renowned yoga guru Dr Anand Chourasia, who has been associated with the Indian armed forces for over 15 years. Dr Chourasia guided the participants through a series of yoga practices designed to enhance concentration, improve flexibility, and reduce stress.
To honour his long-standing contribution to the wellness of the armed forces, Dr Chourasia was felicitated by Lt Gen Gajendra Joshi, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, Commandant, The Infantry School, Mhow.
In his address, Lt Gen Joshi highlighted the transformative power of yoga in the life of a soldier and encouraged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routines.
The event concluded with a collective meditation session and a pledge to continue the practice of yoga for overall health and well-being.
The celebration of International Yoga Day at The Infantry School, Mhow stood out as a testament to the Army’s commitment toward fostering a fit, focused, and disciplined force through the ancient wisdom of yoga, said a release.
