Awami League slams treatment of Bangladeshi Hindu monk Chinmoy Das by ‘Islamist-run judiciary’, says country’s secular fabric is torn apart

Dhaka, Sep 12 (UNI) As emotional videos of Bangladeshi Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das sobbing while hugging the body of his mother have gone viral, the country's former ruling Awami League has accused the BNP government of pandering to Islamists, slamming what it termed an “Islamist-run judiciary” for denying Das permission to see his mother before she died.
The now-banned party said Bangladeshi authorities had denied Das’ family a request for parole so that he could visit his mother during her final days.
“Only after the news of his mother’s death came to public, the court granted the minority rights activist only five hours to attend the funeral,” the Awami League said in a post on X.
