Odisha to hold 3-day drive for inclusion of voters left out of SIR rolls

Bhubaneswar, Oct 6 (UNI) The Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has announced a three-day statewide special drive from October 7 to 9 to facilitate the inclusion of eligible voters left out of the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 and newly eligible young voters.
The drive is aimed at making the electoral rolls more accurate, transparent, inclusive and up-to-date, the CEO's office said on Tuesday.
Young men and women who attained the age of 18 years by October 1, 2026, will be eligible to apply for inclusion of their names in the electoral rolls. They can submit Form 6 to their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for registration.
Eligible voters whose names could not be included in the final electoral rolls during the SIR process for any reason will also get an opportunity to apply for inclusion during the three-day special campaign.
As part of the SIR exercise, lists of voters identified as dead, shifted, absent and duplicate will be made available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha, as well as on the respective district websites.
The voters will be able to verify the lists and file claims and objections if the name of any eligible voter has been erroneously included among those identified for deletion.
The lists will also be shared with representatives of all recognised political parties, who can scrutinise them and file necessary claims and objections.
The exercise is intended to ensure that the names of all eligible citizens are retained in the electoral rolls while helping identify and rectify ineligible or inconsistent entries.
The CEO's office said all BLOs at the district level have been provided necessary training on facilitating the inclusion of eligible voters left out during the SIR process and newly eligible young voters.
During the training, BLOs were instructed to provide necessary assistance and guidance to voters in their respective areas to facilitate the registration process.
Eligible persons seeking inclusion in the electoral rolls have been advised to contact their respective BLOs for assistance in submitting their applications.
The CEO's office has urged all eligible voters whose names were left out during SIR-2026, newly eligible young voters and others eligible for inclusion in the electoral rolls to make use of the special drive on October 7, 8 and 9 and submit their applications through Form 6.
The initiative seeks to further strengthen the preparation of a transparent, accurate, inclusive and updated electoral roll in Odisha, the CEO office said.
