Over 200 landless families in Nashik Dist to get free govt land for housing before Diwali: collector

Nashik, Nov 7 (UNI) In a major relief ahead of Diwali, the Nashik district administration has approved the free allotment of government land to 207 eligible landless families across four talukas of the district, enabling them to build their own homes.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Housing Land Purchase Financial Assistance Scheme, collector Ayush Prasad has issued orders approving government land for eligible beneficiaries in Baglan, Malegaon, Sinnar and Yeola talukas.
For several years, these families had been deprived of permanent housing due to the lack of land of their own. Despite being eligible for housing assistance, many could not construct houses because they had no land. Some were forced to live in huts, encroached spaces or on land belonging to others.
Taking note of the issue, collector Prasad initiated special efforts in coordination with the Revenue Department and the District Rural Development Agency. After completing the necessary legal and administrative procedures, the administration issued a single order approving land for 207 families.
The highest number of beneficiaries are from Baglan taluka, where 94 families from six villages will receive land, followed by Malegaon Taluka with 78 families, Sinnar taluka with 10 families and 25 families from Yeola taluka.
The approved land parcels have been transferred to the respective Gram Panchayats. After approval of residential layouts as per prescribed norms, the land will be distributed to eligible beneficiaries through lease agreements or in accordance with the prevailing government policy.
The concerned Block Development Officers and Tehsildars have been instructed to verify that beneficiaries do not already own a house or residential plot before handing over actual possession.
The initiative, implemented through coordination between the District Rural Development Agency and the Revenue Department, marks a significant step towards providing secure housing to landless and economically disadvantaged families in rural areas.
By ensuring that beneficiaries receive not just housing scheme approvals but also the land required to construct their homes, the district administration has opened the way for 207 families to realise their dream of owning a permanent house.
The decision is expected to bring considerable relief and happiness to these families ahead of Diwali.
