The Chief Minister explained to the Prime Minister the impact of Cyclones Arnav and Murasu and the devastation in the regions.
He told the Prime Minister that farmers had suffered extensive losses due to heavy rains and strong winds. The Chief Minister also informed the Prime Minister about the significant damage caused to roads, power supply and various other sectors. He requested the Centre to extend appropriate assistance to the state to address the losses and support recovery efforts.
Appreciating the State government's efforts in carrying out the cyclone-related relief and response operations, Prime Minister Modi praised Chief Minister Naidu for effectively overcoming the challenges posed by the cyclones through continuous vigilance and preparedness.
Mr. Naidu is maintaining constant contact with the Centre to ensure assistance to farmers affected by damage to agricultural and horticultural crops. The Chief Minister also wrote letters to the Centre and held several discussions with union Ministers on farmers' hardships and problems.
The Chief Minister has already spoken to union Home Minister Amit Shah four times and ensured the immediate arrival of central assessment teams. The state government has submitted a preliminary report estimating losses of Rs 4,563 crore due to Cyclone Arnav.
The Government report reveals that 781 villages were severely affected by Cyclone Arnav, agricultural crops spread across 3 lakh hectares and horticultural crops across 13,600 hectares in 16 districts were damaged. The report states that 29,000 electricity poles and 7,981 km of power lines were damaged.

He also apprised the union Home Minister in another letter that preliminary property damage due to Cyclone Murusu is estimated at Rs 343 crore.
The Chief Minister urged the Centre to announce immediate interim assistance to restore normalcy in cyclone-affected districts and provide relief to farmers impacted by both cyclones. Apart from that, the Chief Minister wrote to union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal seeking intervention with the concerned countries to facilitate the export of chilli consignments stranded at Colombo Port in SriLanka.
He apprised the union Minister that over 150 chillicontainers destined for China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and other countries are stranded at Colombo Port.
Mr. Naidu also informed him that goods worth Rs 60 crore are held up at the port due to objections over the permissible moisture content. As the delay is causing losses to farmers and exporters, he urged the union Commerce Minister to facilitate the export of the stranded consignments.
