Police seize heroin worth Rs 60 lakh, arrest youth in Yamunanagar

Yamunanagar, Oct 6 (UNI) Police's Anti-Narcotics Cell has arrested a youth and recovered 300 grams of heroin, also known as smack, valued at around Rs 60 lakh, in Yamunanagar, officials said on Tuesday.
According to a police official, the action was carried out on the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal after the Anti-Narcotics Cell received information that a youth was allegedly waiting near Green Park, close to the Yamunanagar bus stand, to deliver narcotics.
A team led by Sub-Inspector Satish Kumar, along with ASI Jasvir Singh and other police personnel, reached the spot and apprehended the suspect. A search conducted in the presence of Duty Magistrate and Naib Tehsildar Ravinder allegedly led to the recovery of 300 grams of heroin.
The accused was identified as Danish, son of Dilshad, a resident of Jalalpur in Panipat. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and he was produced before a court and taken on police remand for further investigation.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajat Gulia said preliminary investigation indicated that the accused had travelled by bus from Panipat carrying the narcotics and, after getting down at the Yamunanagar bus stand, was allegedly waiting to deliver the heroin to another person.
The police official said the accused had previously been booked in a drug-trafficking case, which is currently pending before a court. Police are investigating the source of the contraband, its intended recipient and the wider network involved in the alleged trafficking.UNI KK AAB
