Popular film actor Srikanth arrested in drug case

Chennai, June 23 (UNI) Popular Telugu and Tamil film actor Srikanth was on
Monday arrested in connection with a drugs case.
He was taken into custody around noon and after questioning, he was taken
to the Govenment Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for a complete
medical check up at around 2100 hrs tonight.
After the medical examination, he would be produced before a Metropolitan
Magistrate Egmore at his residence and would be sent for judicial remand.
He was said to have taken the drug from Prasad, a sacked IT wing functionary
of the main Opposition AIADMK last month, who was already arrested and in
judicial remand after a late night brawl at a pub recently.
Srikanth was said to have purchased the drug, said to be cocaine, from Prasad
on several occasions.
Based on the investigations provided by him, Srikanth was arrested today
by the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) after initial medical tests turned
positive for use of the narcotic substance.
Police also searched his residence at Nungambakkam and seized incriminating
documents.
After the tests returned positive and based on the documents and transactions
seized from his residence, Srikanth was formally arrested under the Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

AP: Three poachers with country made gun arrested
