Post against CJI: Congress removes person handling party’s X account

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 12 (UNI) The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Monday removed the person responsible for publishing a controversial social media post targeting Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant through the party’s official X handle, while distancing the state leadership from the content.
KPCC president and State Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph said the post was published without the knowledge, consent or consultation of the state party leadership and did not represent the official position of the organisation.
The state leadership would examine the circumstances that led to the publication of the controversial message, he said, adding that the person concerned had been removed from the responsibility assigned to them.
Emphasising the Congress party’s position on the judiciary, Joseph said the party had no disagreement whatsoever with the impartiality of the judiciary. He made it clear that social media posts expressing views contrary to this stand should not be construed as the official position of the KPCC leadership.
The clarification followed the controversy triggered by the post on the party’s official social media account, prompting the state leadership to publicly disassociate itself from the content and initiate steps against the person responsible for its publication.
