Provide seeds, fertilisers and crop loans to farmers before start of Kharif season: Minister Pankaja Munde

Jalna, May 3 (UNI) Maharashtra Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Animal Husbandry and Guardian Minister of Jalna district, Pankaja Munde on Saturday directed that proper planning be made now to provide seeds, chemical fertilizers and crop loans to farmers before the start of the Kharif season sowing.
She was speaking in a pre-Kharif season preparation review meeting which was organised in the District Planning Committee hall today.
On this occasion, MP Kalyan Kale, MLA Arjun Khotkar, MLA Babanrao Lonikar, MLA Santosh Danve, MLA Narayan Kuche, MLA Hikmat Udhan, MLA Rajesh Rathod, District Collector Dr. Shrikrishna Panchal among others officials were present.
Guardian Minister Munde said the Agriculture Department should make detailed planning to make seeds and chemical fertilisers available to the farmers in the proposed area for sowing in the Kharif season this year.
Also, farmers should not be forced to sow twice due to lack of rain. Farmers should sow only after sufficient rain.

For this, the Agriculture Department should create widespread awareness among the farmers. Also, information should be given to the farmers about the proper method of sowing crops, selection of seeds and pre-sowing treatment, proper sowing period. Field staff and farmers should coordinate to reach the farmers with the latest technology, she said.

The Agriculture Department should conduct a special campaign to provide farmers with detailed information about the proper time and method of sowing various crops, diseases that occur in those crops and preventive measures to be taken accordingly. Efforts should be made to increase the productivity of the land so that farmers get good income. Teams should be formed to prevent the sale of bogus seeds and chemical fertilisers in the district and legal action should be taken against the culprits.
As soon as the complaints of farmers are received, instead of checking the seed samples by conducting a Panchnama, the stocks of the seed suppliers should be checked and their quality should be checked at the same time.
Also, immediate action should be taken against the sellers who are engaged in illegal activities such as selling fertilisers at excessive rates and hoarding.
Appropriate measures should be taken to prevent farmers from being cheated and to resolve their complaints, added Munde.
